Ripple effects

Som det från Simon Doherty;

"Hi Ann,

Just really a very quick note to say thanks for an absolutely amazing conference!

Having moved from a career in farm animal veterinary practice in Northern Ireland to the realms of research virology little over a year ago, this was my first "real" veterinary virology conference. The programme was superb, the venue was ideal, the social programme was delightful and the warm welcome that I experienced from the Swedish people I met was simply fantastic!   I learned a lot about pestiviruses - both the "pure" virology as well as some of the current concepts regarding epidemiology, eradication, clinical scenarios, etc. I think the success of the conference can easily be demonstrated in the diversity of the distribution of the delegates - as an ESVV conference, I naively assumed that the mass of delegates would be from Europe - but the Middle East, Far East, Australia, Russia, North America were all represented... truly international!

My wife, Kathryn, came over to join me for the Dinner at Uppsala Castle on Thursday evening and, after the conference wrapped up at lunchtime on Friday, we got the train through and had a whirlwind visit to Stockholm, from Friday evening to Sunday lunchtime... we'll be back, perhaps with the children next time! We visited the Old Town, the cathedral, the Nobel Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, the Nordic Museum and Skansen... and it was a lovely way to end a fantastic week in your country.

Many thanks again - I know having arranged conferences myself in the past just how much work goes on behind the scenes - working with venues, sponsors, caterers, etc - well done!

All the very best. I hope you get time for a well-earned rest!

With best wishes, Simon"
